How to fix any device in ReStory.

A short procedure for the moment your desk is covered in screws and the casing will not close.

Quick answer

Read the request, diagnose the fault, disassemble from the outermost layer inward, clean every reusable part, replace, solder or reprogram only what the job requires, then rebuild and test before delivery.

ReStory uses a consistent seven-stage loop even when each gadget has a different layer count. Where the notebook presents an assembly sequence, use it as the rebuild order and work backward cautiously during disassembly.

00 / Preparation

Before you remove a screw.

  • Read the customer request and note whether the job asks for repair, cleaning, painting, hacking or several tasks.
  • Open the in-game notebook and confirm the fault. Do not replace a working part simply because it is dirty.
  • Capture a reference screenshot of the intact device. It gives you a visual target for panel orientation.
  • Clear unrelated pieces from the desk so small screws are not mixed between jobs.

The built-in hint is part of the workflow

If you lose the next step, use the notebook or the game's hint control before experimenting. A correct hint is cheaper than undoing three wrong layers.

01-07 / Procedure

The reliable repair order.

01

Inspect the request

Identify every required outcome. A device that works can still fail the order if the customer also asked for cleaning or paint.

02

Diagnose before buying

Use the job notes and available test tools to identify whether the failure is a broken part, dirty component, firmware task or soldering repair.

03

Disassemble from the outside in

Remove visible screws before forcing a panel. Move one layer at a time and keep duplicated parts visually separated.

04

Clean exposed parts

Outer casing alone is not enough. Dirty internal components must be accessible and cleaned individually.

05

Replace, solder or reprogram

Perform only the confirmed repair. Purchase or salvage a replacement part, solder the damaged component or complete the firmware task named by the order.

06

Rebuild from the deepest layer

Work outward one layer at a time. Follow the in-game preview and assembly list instead of relying on memory or part names alone.

07

Test and deliver

Confirm the casing closes, the fault is cleared and every requested repair, cleaning, paint or firmware objective is complete before returning the device.

Build 1.0.013r fixed story blockers, Sonic Bath losses, sorting and bugs affecting several devices. Update the game before repeating a workaround from launch week.

Bench notes

Four costly mistakes.

×

Buying every component new

Complete new-part builds can cost more than the finished device sells for. Customer jobs and cheap donor units are usually safer sources of margin.

×

Cleaning only the shell

Internal dirt still counts. Disassemble far enough to expose every marked component.

×

Trusting repeated labels

The XI-Box has two parts called Front Panel. Use the model preview and layer position.

×

Forgetting the customer request

A technically repaired gadget can still miss a paint, clean or firmware objective.

The seven-stage loop comes from the official game description. Device-specific recovery advice is labelled cross-checked or reported when it comes from independent guides. Exact prices and “best” purchases are intentionally excluded because the marketplace was rebalanced in 1.0.013r.
